Many communities in Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) have finally begun to adopt the green composting bin initiative which has been great for decreasing the amount of food waste which has needlessly been shipped off to the landfill sites.
As wonderful and easy as the program is, I have to tell you. I have beef with it.

I never really gave toilet paper much thought until I was 8 years old and sitting on the toilet in my grandparents’ house in Britain. Which actually means I was in the john, or the loo, or something to that effect. In any case, it was not a place I wanted to be.

Over the weekend I had the pleasure of visiting with a friend who lives in the city. She made it out to the suburbs for a visit with another friend. She didn't take the GO-train. She didn't have to take a bus. She didn't show some leg and hitch a ride. And...she doesn't own a car.
