This post comes at an embarrassing-time in my life. Ugh. Gasp. Insert shaking head here. The kids have lice. Obviously, a gift from school no doubt. Sunday night, while brushing a little head, I saw something - tiny - move. Damn! Lice.
What I didn't know was most over-the-counter-store-bought lice treatments are actually insecticides. Moreover...

Man, I hate colds. I even hate chicken soup at this point. Tea and I are eyeing each other warily and cough syrup and I - well, we've broken up. There will be no reconciliations.
My husband, sweetie that he is, knocked my blanket out of the way, made a spot for himself on the couch (and how in the hell does he manage to miss my Death Glare every.time??) handed me the Kleenex and grinned at me.

Part of my new year’s resolutions (which I didn’t really make, but you know how it is) is to change my cooking habits. Specifically, I want my family to eat more fish. Now, I use the words “my cooking habits” loosely as my husband tends to do the lion’s share of meal preparation and execution. With his toy cars in hand, my son walked up to an older boy and
said, "Hi! Do you want to play with me?", the older boy looked a little
stunned, not sure what to say he just walked away.
His little face fell; he was so saddened to be dismissed like that. My heart burst into a million tiny little pieces as I watched my three year old little boy look down at his hands which held his cars, his shoulders slump ever so slightly.

For the past three weeks, my kids and my dog have been in seventh heaven. Santa? Not so much so. It’s been the 6 to 48 inches of accumulated snow that have put Vancouver’s lower mainland into the record books. While it can be hard to equate the term “global warming” with a ton of the white stuff, there’s no doubt about it. Weather patterns are shifting and we’re in for more extreme winter storms, and more extreme summer heat waves. Should we be concerned?
